The modern Psychological hypnosis was first developed in 1843 by the Scotish Physician James Braid. However, it has its origin in earlier forms of trance healing called “Mesmerism”. Sigmund Freud was also interested in hypnosis, initially using it extensively in his work. He eventually abandoned the practice for several resons. In more recent times, the recognised leading authority on clinical hypnosis was Milton H Erickson, MD a remarkable man, and highly effective psychotherapist. Erickson's approach and its derivatives are without question the most effective techniques.

 

Over the years hypnosis has gained ground and respectability within the medical profession. Although hypnosis and medicine are not the same, they are now acknowledged as being related, and it is only a matter of time before hypnosis becomes a main strem practice. Orginization such as the BSMDH have NHS recognition proving that Hypnotherapy is being considered as an alternative partner to traditionaal Medicine. In 1968 it adopted its present consitution and title of "The British Society if Medical and Dental Hypnosis". As a constituent society of both the European and International Societies in medicine and dentistry and to educate both our professional colleagues and the public about hypnosis and its uses

 

When the medical science has advanced tremendously during the last few years, the present  treatment is more effective. This medical system often fail to restore full health in many cases. In these circumstances, a holistic health approach has to take body and mind relations. Bear in mind, that, every disease  has mental, emotional and physical components, and the success of treatment often depends on the emotional, mental and spiritual  perception of the patient to achieve holistic health

Hipnosis and Hypnotherapy'  Is a science which helps heal a person with various conditions, at all levels. Hipnosis is a state in which your logical and analytical faculties of the conscious mind, are reduced sufficiently to allow access to the deeper levels of your subconscious mind to be utilized for health benefits. It is you who is in control and if you don't like something you can always open your eyes and say you will not do it.

 

Hypnosos is a completely natural state of mind.You enter this many times a day without consciously realizing that you are in a light trance state. When you are in this state of mind, the critical factor of the mind is relaxed. Using Hypnosis, we can go back to the original hurt and change perception of it.  Also, to release past blockages, we must forgive.  We must forgive and let go, releasing all negativity, which we can easily do under a hypnotic state, because it gives us the real feeling.

 

Hipnosis used for the mental health area, it is used for phobias, anxiety, cronic pain, sexual problems, self esteem or ego strengthening, alcoholism, smoking control, speech dis orders, weight control, anesthesia, surgery, gynecology, controol of bleeding, burn therapy, tongue biting and general oral hygine, fear of public speeking, nail biting and much more.

 

The experience of a hypnotic trance not so unusal or strange. In trancee you are able to hear and sense things around you but, typically your eyes are closed, you are not moving, just resting comfortably relaxed. Amazing things happen when you relax on purpose. You should notice that  your breathing slows down and most of your muscles become relaxed.  The depth of hypnotic trance varies, it can be very light or extremely deep. When you feel comfortable with the hypnotherapist, you are willing to 'let go' to and allow yourself to enter a trance, then you can experience the special power of the mind and imagination. The power of  hypnosis does not depend on the depth of the trance, rather it is a matter of skills hypnotist has to help you experience something special.

 

As you enter hypnosis, you actually disconnect your mind from the body and surroundings.  That means that your awareness is withdrawn from the normal alert state you walk around in and goes inwardly.  The power of hypnosis is your ability to harness the full potential of your imagination without the normal restrictions of the critical mind.This is when a skilled hypnotherapist can help you make dramatic changes in your life. The hidden power of trance is in the suggestions you listen to and how much you embrace these new ideas.

 

Hypnosis does feel very nice and relaxing, almost like taking a nap. The big difference is in what you are guided to experience during the trance. There are many unusual effects that hypnosis can have on a person, none of these can cause you any harm or pain. Remember, that you cannot be hypnotized against your will, it works only you agree to let it happen.

 

Hypnosis does not take control of your thoughts, nor can the hypnotherapist force you to reveal information that you do not want to reveal, in fact, you can choose to lie under hypnosis just as you can tell a lie while in full waking state. Hypnosis does not erase your memories, nor can the hypnotherapist create new memories. With Hypnosis and Hypnotherapy, you can achieve a balance between your body, mind and spirit and live a better balanced life.
